Everyone has something to say about “The Idol.”
Since , the series — the of Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson — has been slammed for “too graphic” sex scenes and excessive displays of “breast and ass,” as well as a particularly “nasty” steamy segment that Tesfaye was forced to defend.
The “torture porn” drama, which premiered wi♚th 900,000 viewers, follows Jocelyn, portrayed by Lily-Rose Depp, a troubled pop star who becomes increasingly enraptured with the mysterious, rat-tail-donning Tedros (Tesfaye).
Now, even a famed snack brand is trying to crumble the show’s cookies.
After it that a second season of the series was not guaranteed, the official Oreo account replied🥀 with more fire than one might expect from milk’s favorite cookie.
“Finally some good news,” ꦡOreo , evidently un-charmed by Max’s lates🔯t.
And the beloved biscuit brand didn’t stop there.
On June 19, replying to a suggestion that “The Idol” doesn’t live 💛up to the Max offerings that previously held its 9 p.m. Sunday time slot — namely “Succe🐷ssion,” “The White Lotus” and “The Last of Us” — Oreo : “where’s the lie.”
Tesfaye that he and Levinson “very much expected” negative reactions to the show, but his self-awareness about its notoriety hasn’t stopped viewers — and cookie makers — from criticizing “The Idol” for its seemingly gratuitous and violent portrayals of sex and fame.
But Oreo’s second statement apparently overheated Tesfaye’s oven.
Replying a few days later, he , “Don’t make me dunk you in some milk” — before the company’s earlier post also caught his attention.
“Oh f–k they been talkin s–t,” Tesfaye .
Other users were quick to weigh in.
“Bros beefing with Oreo,” was the reaction of , while Tesfaye for stooping to the cookie’s level, writing: “abel you the bro but how tf u beefin wit snacks.”
Unlike the cookie itself, thoไugh, this Twitter feud was hardly black and white — and after a few more barbs, Tesfaye conceded.
“Naw I can’t beef with you @Oreo too many beauti🅺ful memories … I’m dunking you in some champagne tonight,” he wrote.
And shortly after Tesfaye’s move toward reconciliationꦓ, Oreo waved the whi꧃te flag.
“Abel you know we’d die for you! please ♌don’t hold it against us,” the🐭 account replied, potentially having the last word.
