Tobias Harris shades ‘casual’ 76ers fans: ‘They’ll trade me for a Crumbl cookie’

Tobias Harris has been at the center of NBA trade rumors this offseason and he appears to have had enough of all the noise ā€” especially from one part of the 76ers’ fan base.

Speaking at a basketball camp and merchandise event at the ź§‹Wells Fargo Center, Harris addressed the trade rumors head-on, and with a bit of humor.

ā€œCšŸ’asual Sixersą¹Š fans, theyā€™ll trade me for a Crumbl cookie,ā€ Harris .Ā

Later in the nighā™”t, Harris had a message for Crumbl.

ā€œSalute @CrumblCookies,ā€ with a smiling face. ā€œI didn’t mean to put any disrespek on your name,ā€ followed with a cookie and wink emojis.

ā€œBut at the end of the day, they have to realize youā€™re not getting a 6-foot-9 forward back wšŸ’«ho can damn near shoot 40 percent from 3, guard other teamsā€™ best player, shoot, post-up, drive, play 70-plus games a year.ā€

Though Harris, 30, had a fine 2022-23 campaign on paper, averaging 14.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, he was often overlooked as the 76ers turned tšŸ„€o James Harden and Joel Embiid in the power forward position.

The sharpshooter also went 50.1ā›„ percent from the field and 38.9 percent from beyond the 3-poinšŸˆt arc.

And given all that, Harrisā€™ dad ā€” and manager ā€” Torrel Harris said the 76ers arenā€™t utilšŸ·izing his sonā€™s skills enough.

ā€œThe reason I say that, well Tobias isā• an assassin scorer. I mean they canā€™t stop him,ā€ .

ā€œNobody in the league can stop him. So heā€™s proven that over his career even when he wasš’†™ with the Clippers he was an assassin scorer.ā€

But Harris said he didnā€™t agree with his dadā€™s viāœ¤ew on the matter.

ā€œIā€™ve also told him that as a dad and agent, not to speak fā™‘or me when it comes to the media because obviously, he has his ź©µviewpoint on that, but thatā€™s not the way I feel,ā€ Harris said on Tuesday .

Entering the final year of a five-š“„§year deal, Harris has been the subject of trade rumors, including with the Cavs before the NBA Draft, though PhiladelphšŸ§øia likely will hang onto him heading into the 2023-24 season, .

The 76ers are coming off a third consecutive season ofā™‹ getting bounced in the second round of the NBA playoffs after losing to the Celtics thisź¦‘ year.
