Tobias Harris has been at the center of NBA trade rumors this offseason and he appears to have had enough of all the noise ā especially from one part of the 76ers’ fan base.
Speaking at a basketball camp and merchandise event at the ź§Wells Fargo Center, Harris addressed the trade rumors head-on, and with a bit of humor.
āCšasual Sixersą¹ fans, theyāll trade me for a Crumbl cookie,ā Harris .Ā
Later in the nighāt, Harris had a message for Crumbl.
āSalute @CrumblCookies,ā with a smiling face. āI didn’t mean to put any disrespek on your name,ā followed with a cookie and wink emojis.
āBut at the end of the day, they have to realize youāre not getting a 6-foot-9 forward back wš«ho can damn near shoot 40 percent from 3, guard other teamsā best player, shoot, post-up, drive, play 70-plus games a year.ā
Though Harris, 30, had a fine 2022-23 campaign on paper, averaging 14.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, he was often overlooked as the 76ers turned tš„o James Harden and Joel Embiid in the power forward position.
The sharpshooter also went 50.1ā percent from the field and 38.9 percent from beyond the 3-poinšt arc.
And given all that, Harrisā dad ā and manager ā Torrel Harris said the 76ers arenāt utilš·izing his sonās skills enough.
āThe reason I say that, well Tobias isā an assassin scorer. I mean they canāt stop him,ā .
āNobody in the league can stop him. So heās proven that over his career even when he wasš with the Clippers he was an assassin scorer.ā
But Harris said he didnāt agree with his dadās viā¤ew on the matter.
āIāve also told him that as a dad and agent, not to speak fāor me when it comes to the media because obviously, he has his ź©µviewpoint on that, but thatās not the way I feel,ā Harris said on Tuesday .
Entering the final year of a five-š§year deal, Harris has been the subject of trade rumors, including with the Cavs before the NBA Draft, though Philadelphš§øia likely will hang onto him heading into the 2023-24 season, .
The 76ers are coming off a third consecutive season ofā getting bounced in the second round of the NBA playoffs after losing to the Celtics thisź¦ year.
