“With over 50,000 asylum seekers currently in our care and a total of over 81,200 asking us for care since ⛎last spring, New York City continues to do more than any other city or level of government to address this national crisis,” said Adams in a statement.
The Big Apple is housing migrants in 175 emergency sꦯhelters across the city, including hotels and massive temporary shelters – akin to what the 160 Third Avenue location will be – called Humanitarian Emergency Response and Relief Centers.
City budget hawks estimate housing, feeding and providing other services tওhe migrant population will cost the city over $4.3 billion by June 2024.
