This food market is serving up super heroes.
Masako Iso, 76, was crestfallen when she lost her 40-year-old gold Tiffany wedding band while picking up a few items at Trader Joe’s in Union Square with her husband Shoji on Aug. 7.
As they were getting ready to check out, Masako realized the ring wasn’t on her finger.
“We thought it was gone,” she told The Post.
Shoji consoled his wife that “everything would be OK.”
But it was a big deal. The Isos moved to New York City from Tokyo in 1979, and Shoji purchased the $250 ring from Tiffany’s two years later. The couple sport matching bands.
Store employees vowed to embark on a quest for the ring, and the couple returned to their Irving Place home to wait, fingers crossed.
Store manager Kathy Rodriguez, 30, and employee Orlando Cintron retraced the couple’s steps; they had purchased white lily flowers, kale, pork ribs, milk and yogurt.
After about 20 minutes of searching, Cintron spotted the golden sphere next to a $7.99 rack of baby back ribs.
“I moved the ribs one stack at a time and when I moved the second stack, I found the ring between the second and third,” said Cintron, who joked that the precious ring was close to the “heirloom” whole chicken.
“I was amazed to find the ring,” admitted Cintron, 61. “When we heard they lost a wedding band, we felt so bad.”
Cintron said TJ’s is used to people losing their cell phones, pocketbooks, gloves and glasses, but rarely jewelry.
The Isos returned to the store “right away” to claim their priceless band and meet their hero.
Masako suspects the ring slipped off while she was rifling through the stacks of ribs.
The experience renewed the couple’s faith in Gotham.
“We still believe in New York,” Shoji said. “It’s a wonderful place.”
