In the concreꩵte jungle that is New York City, hidden treasu❀res are a rare find.
But thanks to a viral TikTok video by user “Jeffreyinnyc,” the city’s best-kept secret is now out — and it’s a treehouse wonderland right in the heart of Manhattan.
With a jaw-dropping 2.8 million views in just a matter of days, Jeffrey’s video pulled back the curtain on this enchanting escape, in the East Village between avenues B and C. It’s safe to say that the Big Apple has been buzzing about this covert garden gem.
“Would you believe me if I told you that this treehouse was hidden in the middle of a garden in Manhattan and open to the public?” Jeffrey teases at the start of his captivating video, and believe it or not, it’s true.
Step inside 6BC, a botanical garden paradise where you’ll find nature’s beauty woven through winding trails that make you forget you’re even in the city that never sleeps. It’s open from April — weather permitting — through Oct. 31, and in the evenings on Wednesdays and Fridays and from noon to 6 p.m. on weekends.
Brian O’Connor, one of the garden board members tells The Post that a flood of people have since headed to the garden following the viral video, which has made it harder to upkeep.
“It’s all volunteer run, and we don’t get any financing from the city or anything like that,” he said. “We go on donations. So that’s been very cool to see more people donating … anytime you get 500 people showing up at a small garden … things are gonna get messed up. That’s been an issue as well, but, you know, take the good with the bad.”
“It’s a very peaceful garden. When people go in there, they automatically decompress,” he added.
That seems due to its idyllic setting.
“The density of the plants is so thick that you almost can’t see the buildings around you. It feels as if you’re not even in New York City,” Jeffrey adds as he navigates through the lush greenery.
But the pièce de r🐬ésistance of this secret sanctuary is undoubtedly the treehouse itself. A place where you can grab a good book and soak in the serene views of nature.
It’s like a page out of a fairy tale right in the heart of the city. As Jeffrey puts it, “My favorite thing about this garden is the treehouse.”
The response to Jeffrey’s revelation was nothing short of astonishing, with New Yorkers flooding the comments section.
One joker quipped, “Why did I think this was going to be a post for renting this treehouse? Only $5000 a month, 12% broker’s fee.”
Another amazed New Yorker wrote, “I’ve lived here all of my life and did not know about this place, thanks.”
It’s incredible how a city can keep its secrets even from its longtime residents.
Another shared, “Nostalgia hit the second I saw those steps — I spent my childhood coming to this garden and going to the treehouse with my mom.”
So, if you’re seeking a slice of tranquility amidst the urban chaos, or simply looking to escape the grind, this secret treehouse nestled in the heart of NYC’s East Village might just be your new happy place.
