Podcaster’s dramatic livestream footage captures shooting outside NYC bar that wounded man
A podcaster’s livestream captured the shocking moment a barrage of gunfire erupted outside a karaoke bar on Manhattan’s Upper East Side early Wednesday morning, sending the terrified woman diving for cover.
Police confirmed that a fight broke out between two couples outside Iggy’s bar on East 76th Street and Second Avenue shortly before 3 a.m. and led to a shooting that left a man wounded.
Keanu Thompson, a New York City-based sꦦtand-up comic and host of the podcast KeanuCast, was wrapping up a♌n on-air conversation with a caller when gunshots went off directly outside her window, causing her to flinch, , formerly Twitter.
As more shots are fired, a visibly rattled Thompson, dressed in a red crop top and a pair of sparkly devil’s horns, draws back from the window and then seeks refuge underneath her desk.
“I’m not sure what’s happening, but I hear something bad happening,” a wide-eyed Thompson tells her listeners and YouTube viewers.
As a woman’s desperate screams are heard outside, a horrified Thompson hits the floor while repeatedly crying out, “Oh my f—ing God!”
The frightened podcaster then makಌes a frantic phone call, telling the person on the other end of the line that sh💫e is hearing screams and gunshots outside her open window.
The person Thompson is speaking to suggests that she go and look out the window to see what is happening, but she refuses, describing the situation unfolding around her as “terrifying,” before breaking down in sobs on the call.
In an interview with The Post outside her home later, Thompson said she was doing her show in her apartment above the karaoke bar when she heard “pop, pop, pop.”
“I heard screaming, like, ‘no, no no,'” she recalled. “I literally thought, I don’t know, either end of days or some really horrifying fight.”
Thompson said she “hit the deck” in front of her YouTube audience and then crawled into her bathroom for safety until help arrived.
“For Christ’s sake, it’s the Upper East Side!” the comedian said in frustration.
A 32-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were leaving Iggy’s bar around 2:49 a.m. when they got into a verbal spat with another pair, which quickly took a violent turn, an NYPD spokesperson told The Post.
Another man pulled out a gun and fired 7 times, striking the 32-year-old victim in the left leg. His date also suffered a cut to her face in the melee, according to 💫the police.
The injured couple were taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where the man was listed inꦇ stable condition.
The suspects in the shooting had fled on foot before cops arrived. The accused gunman was described as a man in🎉 his 30s dressed in all black.
So far, no arrests have been made in this case.
Thompson later addressed the harrowing incident on X Wednesday, : “As far as I’ve heard everyone is okay. Stay safe everyone.”
