Airplane prankster cooks garlic shrimp dish in bathroom: ‘I got a terrible idea’
This viral prankster has officially joined the mile fry club.
Can’t abide airplane food? No prob. An enterprising TikTok chef devised an unorthodox way to stay sated in style at 30,000 feet — by frying up garlic shrimp in an aircraft lavatory, as seen in a video with over
“Well I got a terrible idea,” TikTok user @barfly777 announces in the eye-brow-raising clip.
The would-be snack-gyver has amassed over 155,000 followers by sharing unusual videos of himself whipping up everything from pizza to ...in the bathroom. It’s ostensibly the perfect way to eat whatever people want no matter how unusual, or unsanitary, the setting — like a veritable Bear Grylls of gastronomy.
For his latest restroom cooking hack, barfly decided to take his talents to new heights and whip up a gourmet feast of what he dubs “mile-high bathroom garlic shrimp and mash.”
He elaborated on the high-flying food feat in the caption, describing, “With 2 6v batteries wired in series to an immersion beverage heater, one can get water scalding hot quickly. Raw shrimp will only need a few minutes. Adding instant mash to the shrimp water adds some extra flavor. Garlic butter makes everything go better.”
Needless to say, the wok star was a bit hesitant about the endeavor. “I’m a little nervous,” the bathroom chef exclaims while driving to the airport. “The stuff I got packed looks like a bomb.”
Fast forward to the jailhouse-esque demo, where the fly-ron chef is seen putting the drain stopper down and filling the sink with water to create a makeshift stockpot.

Barfly can be seen hooking up the immersion heater — which does indeed evoke an improvised explosive device — and placing the end in the water.
He arrays the bags of shrimp and instant mash on the diaper changing station and then tosses the prawns in the now-boiling water, before adding garlic butter and other seasonings.
Barfly does the same with the mashed potatoes and then mixes the concoction in an inconspicuous-looking paper bag — yes, the complimentary barf bag — presumably to avoid giving flight attendants a view of a krill.
The “dishin’ impossible” saga concludes with the bathroom chef enjoying his lavatory étouffée in his seat before flashing a rock and roll hand sign at the camera.

Many viewers were awestruck by the stunt.
“No, he didn’t. Dude you are the GOAT!!!” exclaimed one astounded fan while another wrote, “This is one of the most insane videos I’ve seen on this app.”
Of course, many had their issues as well with many commenting on the kitchen’s lack of cleanliness.
Meanwhile, most commenters expressed concern over whether Barfly’s antics will land him on the no-fry list.
“No fly list coming in hot,” exclaimed one astounded viewer, while another wrote, “If a flight attendant walked in on you building that battery setup you would’ve been dropped off at Guantanamo.”
“Barfly is going to be no-fly pretty soon,” said a third.

“HOW DID THAT BATTERY MAKE IT PAST TSA,” exclaimed one incredulous commenter.
Interestingly, as several savvy observers pointed out, all the aforementioned items are allowed in checked and carry-on baggage provided they’re approved by the airline, per regulations outlined by the
However, the passenger must make sure each component — battery, fuse, heat element — is “isolated to prevent unintentional activation and generation of heat during transport.”
“If the battery has been completely removed then the device is not restricted as a hazardous material,” they write, adding that “each installed or spare lithium battery must not exceed 2 grams of lithium content for a lithium metal battery or 100 Wh for a lithium-ion battery.”
