How I revealed the mail thief next door — and got revenge on my package-stealing neighbor
This neighbor’s five-finger discount came with eight-legged revenge.
A 30-year-old woman has shared the story of her thieving neighbor, who’s had a history of tealing her packages, per an anonymous anecdote shared .
The unnamed woman alleged that her 28-year-old “entitled neighbor” — dubbed an “EN” on the Entitled People sub-Reddit message board — then lied to her when confronted about her misplaced parcels.
“Now my entitled neighbor moved into her house roughly 3 months ago with her 9-year-old son. I was close friends with the people who lived there previously and I had them listed as a trusted neighbor to deliver packages to if I’m not home,” the woman, who claimed to work for a company that sells invention prototypes, explained in a Reddit post.
“Since she moved in I have changed that with the post services but unfortunately there are few of the delivery people who have not had the information. Sadly I have had a few parcels delivered to the entitled neighbor and when I have gone to collect them she has denied knowledge or given me an already opened package and used the excuse that her son accidentally opened it,” she added.
The woman reported she had a “spidey” sense that EN was pilfering her packages — a theory that was confirmed when she heard screams coming from inside her neighbor’s home. She said her “heart sank” the moment she realized EN had discovered the live tarantula she’d ordered in the mail.
Prior to the raucous, she’d also received a notification from the carrier to be on the lookout for her delivered goods and even stayed home to make sure it would be left in her hands.

“I left my house and went straight to my neighbor’s house to knock on her door,” she said, adding that her neighbor told her to leave her alone and denied ever getting a package.
“Before I could finish she slammed the door in my face. I was obviously annoyed and knocked on her door again and waited but she completely ignored me for at least 10 minutes.”
She then called a courier service to see if they could retrieve the package from her neighbor due to having delivered it to the wrong unit.
“Just as I was telling the service operator what was happening, my doorbell rang several times then there was repeatedly loud banging coming from my front door followed by the bell again,” she recalled.
She opened the door to find her cursing neighbor along with her crying son, who blamed her for letting a “spider loose” in their home.

“Yes I collect tarantulas, true spiders and lots of other inverts,” she told EN, adding, “So, you did get my package after all.”
The angry neighbor reportedly then insisted she retrieve the arachnid. Alas, next door she found the box meant for her next to the blade used to cut the tape.
She eventually found the tarantula beneath her neighbor’s sofa.
EN then dared to demand she stop buying spiders because she’s arachnophobic, and admitted to regularly allowing her son to open the stolen parcels because he “loves to play” with the “gadgets” she gets from the prototypes her company sells.
The woman has since cut ties with her neighbor and taken action to make sure she stays out of her mail. The tarantula is also safe and healthy in its new home
Meanwhile, her neighbor learned a very important lesson: “Moral of the story is don’t open someone else’s package, it might just contain giant spiders!” she concluded her post.
Commenters on the thread applauded her tale of revenge and shared similar stories.
“Way before internet videos, I had a family friend do that to a thief. She had a neighbor who stole stuff from the mailbox or porch. She ordered a box of crickets and waited. The rumor was the neighbor had crickets hiding in her house for months,” one person shared.
“Wow! This one even beats the time I wrapped up cat poop in an old Amazon box addressed to me and left it at the front door for my downstairs neighbor to steal. This is absolute GOLD! (And yes, I found the box of cat s—t opened on the top of our shared outdoor trash can later that day and never had another package stolen.)” another joked.
