‘Meme king’ GOP congressman who rose to prominence with viral posts gets new title for Christmas from Elon Musk
US Rep. Mike Collins touted a stocking stuffer that X and Tesla CEO Elon Musk apparently gifted him for Christmas that celebrated the lawmaker’s meme-posting ability.
“Wow! Thank you @elonmusk! 🎄🎁,” Collins (R-Ga.) alongside video of a nameplate from the company’s headquarters proclaiming the freshman Republican a “Memer of Congress.”
Co෴llins placed the new nameplate, which also bore the bold “X” logo of🥃 Musk’s social media platform, atop his congressional desk in the video.
The congressman from Georgia’s 10th District came to prominence during the Republican conference’s three-week search for a new House speaker following the ouster of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Oct. 3.
The attention-grabbing content boosted the rep’s online viewership by the thousands, and Collins currently enj🐼oys for his congressional X account.
The “” did not vote to vacate McCarthy’s speakership but before GOP🌜 Conference vice chairma🐎n Mike Johnson (R-La.) won the gavel.
He expressed concerns this month that the California Republican’s decision to leave office before the end of♕🦩 his term next November could leave Republicans with a mere “two-seat majority” after the expulsion of lying Rep. George Santos (R-NY🌼).
Collins made a brief bid to replace Johnson as the Repub🅘lican conference vice chairman, a position clinched by Rep. Blake Moore (R-Utah) after several rounds of voting.
The Post has reached out to reps for Collins and Musk about 🦄the Christmas gift.
