Hopefully Taylor Swift keeps a receipt.
Boomer Esiason floated a theory that Swift will ask the NFL to reimburse her for her flight from Tokyo to Las Vegas this weekend, when she’ll watch boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Chiefs face off against the 49ers in Super Bowl 2024, and that the league also provides one of the highly discussed million-dollar suites at Allegiant Stadium.
This hot take came after Esiason and co-host Gregg Giannotti discussed Swift’s net worth and a potential engagement.
“Because of all these stories coming out that she has raised the level of the NFL,” Esiason said Monday on “Boomer and Gio” on WFAN. “The NFL is going to be here after she’s done. It was here before she got started.”
Gianotti then interjected, “I love this. I love this Boomer heel turn on Taylor Swift, this is the greatest thing to ever happen.”
“You gotta know that her people are in touch with the NFL,” Esiason said. “And her people are probably saying, ‘If you want her at the game, you gotta pay for the jet coming back from Tokyo — and she needs her own suite.’
“I’m telling you, man. This is business, man. This is all about business. How many times are we, CBS, going to show her? And are we going to show an arrival shot?
“What’s interesting is if the NFL does pay for all of this stuff, ya know, it could be like OK, we’ll take care all of that but we want to be able to shoot you as you get to the stadium, whatever. You would think.”
Giannotti then asked Esiason whether he had inside intel or if this was a guess.
“I think it’s my guess in this case,” Esiason said. “I have a feeling that she is so powerful, so consuming and the metrics show you how successful the NFL has been with her being a part of it, and they can break down what they believe is her financial impact on the NFL and that number is close to $350 million in the short time she’s been around.”
Regardless if the NFL pays for her plane, Swift is leaving Tokyo on Saturday after her fourth and final Eras Tour performance in Japan to make the cross-continent trip to Nevada, where Kelce is chasing his third Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs.
Swift has watched each of her previous 12 Chiefs games from a suite, and it’s safe to assume she will be in a box for the game at Allegiant Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.
