‘Stubborn Englishman’ caught trying to illegally cross Russian border to hook up with ‘a girl he met on the internet’
To Russia with love.
A “stubborn Englishman” has been caught repeatedly trying to cross the Polish border into Russia in a desperate bid to see a woman he met online, according to officials.
The unidentified 37-year-old UK citizen was stopped by officers from the Polish Border G💖uard at a border crossing in the village of Grzechotky around 2 a.m. on Friday.
He “wanted to get to Russia,” the Border Guard in a statement about the title, “A stubborn Englishman.”
“The purpose of his journey was a girl he met on the iknternet.”
The lovesick Brit informed the guards that he wanted to travel to St. Petersburg, about 700 miles to the north, to visit the Russian love interest he claimed was his “fiancée.”
However, his romantic quest hit a stumbling block when he was told he didn’t have the documents needed to enter Russia.
But the heart wants what it wants — and less than three hours later, the amorous Englishman’s dark-colored BMW was spotted on a wooded road leading to the Polish-Russian border.
The Border Guard’s cameras then captured him walking on foot in the dark along a muddy country lane.
The passionate prowler was swiftly detained by officers, this time cl🌠aiming that his navigation system had led him astray.
But he also admitted that “he wanted to go to the girl he met on the Internet so much” that he decided to travel to neighboring Lithuania and from there to Russia, with love.
The lovestruck Brit was le꧂t go after being slapped with fines totalin𝓰g about $150.
