į£Monty Williams will not remember his last few trips to Madison āSquare Garden fondly.
In his latest visit, the Pistons coach wasnāt thrilled with being on the opposite side of a Knicks franchise record on Monday night when Donte DiVincenzo knocked down 11 3-pointers in a 124-99 Knicks win.
When Williams was asked about it after the game, he was blunt wš„ith his response.
āI don’t care about their team at all,ā Williams said. āI couldn’t care less. Those guys, the way they got those threes. I don’t want to be a part of that story.ā
When Josh Hart was asked about the comments Williams had after the game, šthe Knicks star had a simple sšolution for him.
āIf he didnāt wannāa be part of the story, he shouldāve told his guys to defend better,ā Hart told reporters. āI donāt know what else to say. We got a guy thatās hot, weāre gonna try to find the guy thatās hot. Thatās common sense basketball.ā
DiVincenzo’s massive night also included putting up a career-high 40 points and is just eight 3-pointers behind Evan Fournier for the Knicks’ single-season record with 11 games still to go in the regular season.
The Knicks shooting guard had 20 3-point attempts in thą¹e win.
Williams’ last trip to the Garden resulted in a memorable ending in which a ną¹umber of questionable no-calls led to a chaotic sequence that resulted in an and-1 for Hartā to win the game with seconds left on the clock.
Williams went off on the officiaš“ls after the game during a brief press conferencš³e in MSG.
āThe absolutely worst call of thše season,ā he said at the time. āNo call and enough is enough. Weāve done it the right way. Weāve called the league. Weāve sent in clips. Weāre sick of hearing the same stuff over and over again.ā
