Dogs cause $3,000 in damage after tearing apart car while chasing cat
The cat got awašy, but not before thousands of ādollars in damage was done.
Two dogs tore apart a Florida, woman’s car while trying to reach a feline hiding inside the engine.
Christie Barr was shocked when she woke up to see her vehicleź§ torn up with an estimated $3,000 in repairs, .
āI thought somebody had maybe taken a BB gun and shot my car,ā the Jacksonvāille woman told the outlet.
Barr called the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and investigators pouring through security camera footage found the four-legged culprits.
Video showed two grey dogs tearing off the car’s front tire and otherwise attacking the vehicle.
āIf they can do that to metal on a car, theyād tear a human being up,ā Barr worā¦ried.
The dogs ravaged her car around 3 a.m. Sunday, after her neighbor’s cat weaseled its way behind the engine.
The crazed canines began clawing their way into the vehicle, damaging the fź¦ ront bumper, fendersź§, and two tires, according to WJAX.
Surveillance video shows them ripping off sheets of metal to get around the wheel, leaving deep teeth marks on the car’s frame.
The cat survived the witch hunt, according to Barr, who is sure she wouldn’t have if the dogs had gotten to their target.
āThereās no doubt in my mind if theyād gotten that cat, she wouldnāt be here today,ā sheš said.
Barr and her neighbors have no idea who the dogs belong to, or where they went after their violent pursuit. The entire neighborhood is worried about their safety and animal control hasn’t responded to Barr’s calls, according to the station.
For now, Barr, who has lived in the neighborhood for 35 years, suggests dog owners “take care of them” and not “let them be out running the streets during the middle of the night.”
