South Carolina’s win over Caitlin Clark, Iowa sets women’s betting records

Sports bettors smashed women’s college basketball on their betting apps for the Iowa-South Carolina Women’s national championship game.

The Gamecocks victory over the Hawkeyes generated a massive 205 percent increase in bets on FanDuel Sportsbook from last year’s title game, according to .

The event is now the biggest betting event in women’s sports history on FanDuel.

Compared to the national championship between Iowa and LSU las♉t season, we saw a 155 percent increase in total money wagered on 🐎the championship games.

South Carolina, which won, 87-75, got tons of the bets against the spread (ATS) for Sunday’s game.

Over at BetMGM Sportsbook, South Carolina received 63 percent of the bets ATS, with the spread moving from 5.5 to 6.🤪5 by game time in favor of the Gamecocks.

They would go on to cover that spread, but Caitlin Clark’s Hawkeyes were getting so much public attention that bettors were hammering the futures market and moneyline for Iowa to win the national title.

Iowa opened at +200 on the moneyline and closed around +220 on BetMGM, de🍸spite 87 percent of bets and 73 percent of the💜 outright handle being on the Hawkeyes prior to tipoff.

South Carolina winning was a good result for BetMGM, although an Iowa cover would’ve made it even sweeter.

“Bettors are backing Caitlin Clark and Iowa to upset South Carolina in the National Championship game,” Matt Cosgriff, Director of Trading at BetMGM, told The Post prior to game time.
