āGet Ready. Superman. 7.11.25,ā the director wrote Monš§øday in a caption on the social media platform Threads alongside the image of Corenswet, 30, decked out in the iconic Superman suit.
The Warner Bros. film had previously been titled āSuperman: Legacy,ā but Gunn announceād in FebruaryšÆ that he had chopped off the second half of the name.
āWhen I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film āSuperman: Legacy,āā he wrote. āBy the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the tš¼itle was āSuperman.āā
Corenswet takes over from Cavill — who turned 41 on Sunday — after he played the hero in six films, beginning with 2013ās āMan of Steelā and ending with an uncrediteš ŗd cameo in last yearās āThe Flash.ā
Superman is by far the biggest rošle to date for Corenswet, who has previously appeared on two Ryan Murphy Netflix series, āThe Politicianā and āHollywood.ā
Heāll star opposite “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and “The Great” actor Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
āš„Superman,ā which will hit theaters July 11, 2025, is the first film in the planned revamp of the DC Universe. Itās part of an initš°ial grouping of movies dubbed Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
