Killer mom Susan Smith begging father of kids she drowned not to oppose her parole this year

Susan Smith, in prison for the 1994 murder of her two young sons, has a parole hearing in early November — but if her former husband has anything to do with it, she’ll remain in prison.

The killer mom has reached out to her ex, David Smith, asking him not to oppose her bid for freedom. But a family member tells The Post that Smith will “100% oppose” her release from prison.

“He has every right to stand in her way, and that’s exactly what he’s about to do,” says the Smith relative. “She killed his kids, caused him a lifetime of heartbreak. If she thinks he’s going to just stand by while she tries to get out of jail, she’s even more delusional than we even thought.”

According to a spokesperson for the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardons, parole-seekers can file a notice that they are seeking early release. At that point, the state notifies the victims’ family — and they have the right to weigh in on the decision.

David Smith lost 3-year-old Michael and 14-m🐽onth-old Alexander when his then-wife Susan drove them both into a lake while they were strapped into their car seats in 1994.

She has been incarcerated at Leath Correctional Institution in Greenwood, South Carolina, for more than two decades after the notorious murder of her two sons.

She is up for parole later this year, and she’s told family members she belie🧸ves s💧he deserves to be released.

After watching her sons slowly drown in John D. Long Lake in Union County, Smith falsely told police that a black man had carjacked her and kidnapped the boys, leading to a manhunt in which auꦡthorities went door to door among local neighborhoods that were predom🍌inantly African American.

Smith and her then-husband, David, appeared on national news ever♈y day, pleadinꦉg for the boys’ safe return —  and sticking to the story that she had been carjacked.

But nine days later, Smith finally confessed th𒐪at she had made the entire story up, and that she had🍎 drowned her sons in the lake.

Her alleged motive: She was having an affair with a wealthy man who didn’t want children. The car was pulled from the water with the two boys stಞill strapped in their seats.

She was convicted of murder, but spared the death penalty and instead given life in prison with 🙈the possibility of parole after 30 y✨ears.

Smith’s first parole hearing for her life sentence is scheduled for Nov. 4 — and the parole board will consider David Smith’s input in deciding whether to free her.

But Smith doesn’t have an ally in her former husband.

“It’s just ridiculous that she’d even ask for David’s support,” says the family member. “So the answer is no. No, no, no. Just no.”
