With optimism in short supply, it’s on Giants to prove doubters wrong

If the Giants listened to what was said about them, read what was written about them and worried about what was thought about them it would be prudent for them to 𝕴cancel the season and move on with their lives. Who needs the aggravation?

Anyone bullish on this team is part of the silent minority. It is as if assigning praise or expressing optimism comes only at your𓂃 own peril. The common rationale is to expect the worst because then you will not be disappointed.

The NFL season often does not play out in such predictable fashion, though, and the Giants indeed will suit up and play Sunday against the Vikings, undeterred by the naysaꦫyers, of which there are many. Even their own fans seem dubious. The groundswell of hope generated when the new regime of Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll won nine games in the 2022 season and one more in the playoffs faded when the 2023 squad struggled to attain six wins and treated the end zone on offense as the Forbidden Zone from the original “Planet of the Apes” movie.

There are reasons to believe the Giants are improved and that they can put together a winning season. There are more reasons to think they cannot. Either way, buckle up. There will be turbulence. I♑t is only a matter of how shaky it gets.
