Move over Grimace.
Haliey Welch, better known as Hawk Tuah Girl, has celebrated the Mets’ recent run to the playoffs on social media after controversially throwing out the first pitcš°h atš„ an August game.
The Mets were criticized for giving Welch, who rose to internet fame over her describing a sexual act in an interview on the street, a plaātform to grow her fame and to be associated with the team.
Welch, though, has had some fun with the drama, posting a series of Photoshopped images of herself in Mets moments as they made the playoffs with a win over the Braves on Monday and followed with a Game 1 wild-card victory over the Brewers on Tuesday.
“We were pretty excited to throw out the first pitch,ā said Welch, recently noting that her appearance was in concert with a program the team was doing for vet dogs,
āHad a really goodā day, whole team was nice. And then we leave and I ąµ©see everybody like posting stuff. āWhy the fāk is she here?āā
Grimace has been a mascot of sorts for the Mets since the McDonald’s character throwing out the first pitch came just as the team started an early-season run of sucess.
Similar can be said for Welch, though iāt did not start that way.
The Mets lost 7-6 to the A’s on that day, Aug, 15, after leading 5-0 to fall to 62-59 with their postseason hopes fading.
However, the Mets closed with 27 wins in their final 41 šøgames and claimed a wild-card berth on a rain-delayed last day of the season.
