Suni Lee is still not happy about comments from her former Olympics gym🗹nastics teammate MyKayla Skinner.
Skinner questioned in July, before the Olympics, the depth and work ethic of the women’s gymnastics team beyond Simone Biles.
Lee made it clear that the comments still stung .
“We have a lot of love for her, but it’s frustrating to see her put us down because she knows, basically, about every single thing that we’ve all been through,” Lee told the outlet.
“It was more annoying because of all the things that I’ve been through,” she continued.
Skinner, a silver medalist during the Tokyo Olympics, made her comments in a since-deleted video on YouTube shortly after the women’s gymnastics roster was announced in July.
“Bes🍒ides Simone, I feel like the talent and the🧜 depth just isn’t like what it used to be,” Skinner said at the time. “The girls just don’t have the work ethic.”
Biles immediately took issue with her former teammate’s remarks.
“Not everyone needs a mic and a p♐latform,” Biles wrote on Thre൲ads.
Lee also entered the fray at the time, with a since-deleted comment of her own.
“Put a finger down if Simone Biles j🃏ust ended you,” Lee wrote.
After the United States won the gold medal in the team event in late July, Biles appeared to shade Skinner again, captioning an Instagram post, “Lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions ❤️🥇🇺🇸.”
Skinner ultimately apologized for her remarks.
“I want to formally apologize to Team USA and to our gymnastic community for my comments during my recent YouTube episodes of the gymnastics Olympic trials,” . “It was not my intention to offend or disrespect any of the athletes or to take away from their hard work.”
