Embattled RFK Jr. holds wife Cheryl Hines’ hand as he and rest of Kennedy clan turn out for funeral of his mom Ethel Kennedy
The ragtag members of the Kennedy clan turned out Monday for the funeral of Ethel Kennedy — the widow of Robert F. Kennedy, and the last link to the family’s days of “Camelot” in the White House.
Ethel, who died at age 96 followin﷽g a stroke, was memorialized at a funeral service closed off to the public 🐲and press on Cape Cod Monday morning.
Somber church bells rang out under overc🧸ast skies outside Our Lady of Victory Parish in Centerville, Massachusetts — just a few miles from the Kennedy ꦚcompound in Hyannis Port.
Members of the Kennedy family arrived in limousines and Ethel’s casket, covered in white flowers, was carried into the church.
RFK Jr., Ethel’s second son, was spotted holding hands with his wife, actress Cheryl Hines — amid reports about trouble in their marriage over the ex-presidential candidate’s endorsement of former President Donald Trump, and claims that RFK Jr. carried on a sexting tryst with political journalist Olivia Nuzzi.
Also in attendance was his daughter Kyra Kennedy, 28, a model and influencer and RFK Jr.’s youngest child.
Caroline Kennedy, 66, a US diplomat🐓 and the last surviving child of President John F. Kennedy, was seen paying her respects.
Caroline served as US ambassador to Japan under the Obama administration and currently as ambassador to Australia. In 2008, she threw her hat in the ring for the Senate seat held by Hillary Clinton, but later withdrew due to “personal reasons.” The seat later went to Kirsten Gillibrand.
Maria Shriver, the former NBC News broadcaster and ex-wife of Arnoꦚld Schwarzenegger, attended with her son Christopher Schwarzenegger, a University of Michigan grad.
Also present was Maria’s brother Anthony Shriver, the founder of Best Buddies International, which helps people with intellectual disabilities find gainful employment.
He reportedly considered running for governor of Florida in 2006 and 2010 but never enteꦅre🦩d the race.
The Shrivers are the children of Eunice Kennedy, JFK and RFK’s sister.
Also there were Ethel Kennedy’s oldest son Joseph Kennedy II, and his son Joseph Kennedy III — both former Democratic congressmen.
The elder Joseph Kennedy, a six-term Massachusetts congressman, overturned a Jeep he was driving on Nantucket in 1973, injuring his brother David and permanently paralyzing his girlfriend, Pam Kelley. Cops cited Kennedy for reckless driving and the family made some contributions to Pam’s care over the years.
His son, Joseph Kennedy III, was named US Special Envoy for Northern Ireland in 2022 by Presid▨ent Biden after spending eight years in the House of Representatives for Massachusetts.
With a net worth of nea𒉰rly $43 million, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, the younger Joseph Kenn✃edy was one of the wealthiest members of Congress during his tenure.
Ethel Skakel Kennedy was the matriarch of the Kennedy clan when she died. She was the sister-in-law of JFK and widow of🧔 RFK — former senator from New York and 1968 Democratic presidential front-runner. She never remarried after his assassination in Los Angeles during the campaign.
The couple were introduced in 1945, when Ethel was 17 years old, and married in 1950. They had 11 children, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whose independent 2024 White House run was cut short when he backed Trump.
