Honduran migrant charged with drugging, sexually assaulting woman at NJ eatery is held on ICE warrant

A Honduran migrant who owns a restaurant in New Jersey was busted for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his Portuguese-style eatery — and is now being held in jail while the feds work to boot him from the US, officials say.

Carlos Erazo-Caballero, 36, was charged with first-degree sexual assault for the October incident at Stephanie’s Barbeque IV in Newark, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, local outlets reported.

The Elizabeth resident, a citizen of Honduras, was arrested Feb. 5 and is currently being held at the Essex County Correction Facility in Newark, jail records show.

It is unclear what if any bail the suspect might have been given, but either way, he is being held on the immigration warrant, authorities said.

U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer with Essex County Jail against Carlos Erazo-Caballero,” the agency said in a statement to The Post on Sunday.

“As part of ICE’s mission to identify and arrest removable aliens, ICE ERO [Enforcement and Removal Operations] lodges immigration detainers against aliens who have been arrested for criminal activity and taken into custody by state or local law enforcement.”

Prosecutors did not provide additional information on the alleged assault to protect the victim’s identity,
