‘Yellowstone’ actress to auction Maui estate — to make a quick move to Alabama

“Yellowstone” actress Barret Swatek and her husband, retired hedge-fund manager Adam Weiss, are saying goodbye to Hawaii and heading back to her roots in Alabama.

And as they bid farewell, prospective buyers can bid for their home.

The couple is putting their sprawling eight-bedroom Maui estate up for auction as they prepare to raise their newborn daughter, Dixon, closer to family, according to the.

Swatek and Weiss snapped up the beachfront property in 2021 for $45 million and poured millions more into renovations, artwork and custom furnishings.

But after welcoming Dixon in 2024, their dream home no longer felt like the right fit.

“We just feel like we’re too far from them and from Barret’s family, and I think the baby kind of changed the equation on that,” Weiss told the Journal.

The 21,700-square-foot estate sits on Keawakapu Beach near Wailea, a high-end enclave in South Maui.

Originally designed by renowned Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta, the home features bold geometric designs, vibrant hues and dramatic lighting effects. A tranquil courtyard with reflecting pools creates a striking entrance.

“Right now, I’m looking out at the reflecting pool, and the way the sun is positioned and hitting, I’m seeing this beautiful reflection,” Swatek said.

“All day long, it changes.”

Inside, the luxury compound boasts a wine room, a gym, a yoga studio and an arcade-packed game room. The couple even converted a media room into a cozy library and added a stylish bar off the kitchen.

The primary suite now includes a custom dressing room, and nearly all furnishings will be included in the sale.

Swatek and Weiss embraced island life, often paddleboarding among whales just off their beachfront property. One unforgettable moment had Swatek watching a baby whale nurse beneath her board.

“I lay down on my board and put my mask in the water, and I watched this calf nurse from their mother for a good 10 minutes,” she recalled. “That was something else. And a few years later, maybe that calf is back here with its mother. And I have my baby now, and we’re watching the whales together.”

But despite the paradise setting, Swatek found herself longing for her Alabama upbringing. She and Weiss plan to move to her family’s horse farm outside Birmingham, where she spent her childhood riding bareback with her brothers.

“I’ve really cherished how I grew up,” she said. “When I came back from school, my brothers and I would hop on a horse bareback and ride for the afternoon.”

Eager to relocate, the couple initially shopped the home privately for $65 million but have now opted for an auction, which they hope will speed up the process.

“We feel good about the decision we’ve made at this point,” Weiss said, noting that they have the option to cancel the sale if bids come in too low.

The auction, handled by Concierge Auctions, will run from April 10 to April 22, with bidding expected to start between $17.5 million and $35 million. There is no reserve price.

Luxury real estate auctions can be unpredictable, with many high-end homes selling for less than their initial ask. However, Chad Roffers, CEO of Concierge Auctions, insists the process delivers top dollar.

“We deliver market value for our sellers in a finite time frame and have a history of setting sale records for highest prices in multiple states and countries,” Roffers said.

Swatek and Weiss are no strangers to the high-end market. In 2022, they sold their Malibu estate — once owned by Cindy Crawford — for a whopping $70.4 million.
